Obsession Spring 2012 Edition (part 2)

January 31st, 2012 | Diana

I want and I will wear head to toe GIVENCHY this spring!!!
How am I not surprised about this already!? Every ready to wear, capsule, haute couture, accessories. Ricardo Tisci has kept me on my knees begging for more and more. Impeccable and sexy tailored suits, soft but strong jackets, skin tight pants and eel skin??? I have to say STUNNING.
My ultimate favorite piece, it’s the iphone holder necklace. I believe there is lots to do with one of my new year’s resolution, ” to answer to my phone calls.” As several friends have pointed out, my new way is really working out for them. But early on into my resolution, I came to find out that I have a bigger problem than answering my phone calls. Finding the mis-placed phone is taking some serious time of my day. So when I came across this necklace, I had to push it to the top of my must buy list. What a flattering way not to look like an idiot?!

Dear Hussein, thx thx thx! LOVE D

Recently I was called in to come over to my favorite shop in L.A.,DES KOHAN. The store is the place to go for new and popular premier designer clothes and accessories. Whatever DES KOHAN carries now, soon ,2 or 3 seasons later, will be haute commodity on Barney’s waiting loooooong list.
Back to my phone call, quick to forget quick to remember, I cut off the girl on the other end of the line (I was excited, all over the place! Not trying to be rude!) as I had just realized I wanted and forgotten to go there.  So couple days later, I made my way to the store. I was so happy knowing I was going to come out of there even happier, and with one more highlighted  and circled line on my amex statement _Hubby’s favorite way to let me know he knows where I am spending money._  I did my thing, had some tea, some merengues. When I was on my way out, the girl says loudly “Oh wait! Your package!” I said “Package???” She handle it  to me saying ” Your gift from HUSSEIN CHALAYAN!? He send it to his favorite client.” I opened on the same second. “It’s from the runway” I said with tears in my eyes (Nooo, not really! I should’ve. My husband will never get me something like that. He would even understand, our find the store). “Can I keep it? Like forever?” she replied ” It’s a gift, yes! Yes you foreigner! Here in the US we keep gifts, specially from HUSSEIN CHALAYAN.” So I left thinking out loud “What? …What?… Where am I going to wear it? …What?…OMG!!!” Once I got home, I was already used to the fact I got a gift, a really nice gift from one of my favorite designers. Can I next become a muse? I can totally handle it. WAIT… STOP IT… Are you thinking what I am thinking?… it is just 5 week and 2 days away!? I swear I am not drinking!

Dear Hussein,
I can wait to wear it! I will take pics to show you later.
THX, THX, THX!!!
LOVE, D

No Golden Globes, No Champagne, No Tom Ford

January 17th, 2012 | Diana Pereira

I don’t like watching “big deal” awards shows, especially the Golden Globes. Well, it’s depressing! I have never been invited and it’s so boring when you are not drinking – as much as I wish I could that is… The Golden Globes is held only four miles away from my house (where I keep “worth of stepping on the red carpet” dresses). Just to think about ALL that champagne that’s being served…sigh… I will never have that many bottles popping under my roof; no, can’t do it, at least not without my husband enforcing an intervention on me the next day. It’s true that he will party with me first; he will sit, sip, and dish; he will laugh, feel up my glass (and his) about 30 times; he will enjoy listening to me challenge myself in guessing the designer of every gown, shoe and handbag; he will even say Angelina Jolie is not his type; but then, he will throw me under the bus the next morning! So I will wait until next year’s Golden Globes; maybe by then I will only need a couple of bottles to keep up with all the fun.
So when Monday came around, everywhere I looked, read, searched or glanced at, had images of all the colors, shapes and details I had missed the night before. Not without a fight, I endured the pain of missing the show. Now I had the extra work of looking for what I had imagined would be there, the last haute couture show. I popped up a bottle of champagne so the hairdos –more like “please don’t ever call your hairstylist again”—wouldn’t scare me as much. Like any other red carpet event, there was the sophisticated, the pretty, the glamorous, the risky and the horrid. Oh, oh…I am shocked I didn’t see any TOM FORD walk the red carpet. Yes, of course that would be my choice!!!

In order: Tilda looks a virginal modern sophistication in Haider Ackermann. Nina Ricci understated black with a bondage (Sweet s&m! HOT HOT HOT) style top is PERFECTION on Rooney Mara. My favorite hollywood girl Emma Stone can’t look bad. The Lanvin choice was age appropriate, and simple but yet adorable. In a gorgeous Givenchy Archive, Jessica Chastain looked simply and eternally GLAMOROUS. It may be the wrong dress, the wrong hair and the wrong person, put it all aside and I still believe this Prada dress was one of my favorites. Of course Angie did it, very predictable! She didn’t make my top choice, it was not fare to the others. She stole the show just like she stole Brad _ heart that is. AMAZING, GORGEOUS … do I need to keep writing? Oh yes, Atelier Versace dress!!!
