+1 from Fashion Week

Fashion Week

Alexander Wang leather vest | Zara dress (worn as top) | Asos jeans (similar here) | Stella McCartney fringe belt | Gianvito Rossi pumps | Acne bag | Dannijo ring (left hand )| Chloé rings (right hand)

Fashion Week month came to an end. I am sadly content to be back from Paris somewhat alive. My feet are swollen up, and my liver have come out of my body and bagged me to not even look into another glass of champagne. It was a great last 5 weeks. There was so much to see in and out of the runways. Before I start with my own trend reviews, here is another outfit I wore during the past month.
Now back to the couch; under the blankies, a big box of chocolate and Vudu’s movies choices on the screen. Fashion Week; I can’t wait for September, but I am so happy right now.

Best On Sale!

November 26th, 2012 | Diana

“Good morning D! R u coming to shop?” That was the message I received from a friend of mine at 7:47 a.m. on Black Friday… Had she lost it!? Was it a joke? Or had I forgotten to explain the sales rules to my dear friend? Those questions I had asked myself only registered in my mind after I responded with, “Nope! I did my shopping last week, and in the middle of the night!”
I never heard back from her, she probably thinks I am the crazy one: “Last week? Middle of the night?”
I can’t deny, I love getting those Balmain velvet pants on sale, and instead of deciding whether I should get the black or the withe Alexander McQueen cape, I added BOTH to my shopping bag. Sales are lovely, especially for the ladies in California. The same day we retire our Giuseppe Zanotti lace up sandals, we get to purchase those Versace over-the-knee boots.
And, I have to be honest… I’d rather wear pharmacy brand make up than go against the desperate Black Friday so called “shoppers”.
So when I said “last week”, and “in the middle of the night”, I meant, “Hon, you know you could have called your Barneys sales person, (in my case a sales team) and they would have put everything aside for you!” AND “Did you know, net-a-porter and ssence started their sales at midnight EST?”
I don’t recall how or what my Thanksgiving nights used to be before internet sales. Now I can say it might be the most enjoyable night of the year for me. Of course, the day starts with bloodies, followed by tequila shots! Already intoxicated and of course starving, I stuff myself with food just like the Turkey I had done earlier. While I wait for the dessert table, which includes French, American, and Persian desserts, I get to enjoy the first of many more glasses of champagne to come. I get to leave my daughter with my in-laws, and have an early evening at the movies with my husband. We eat more, we come home, we have a party for ourselves, which of course involves more drinks, and a VERY loud Swedish House Mafia station on Pandora. But wait, it gets better! No later than 1 a.m. my hubby is completely, absolutely, and totally, passed out. That is when my lover comes to the rescue… Mr. MacBook and I spend the rest of the night in my bed, looking at online sales, without the hassle of crazed shoppers or over-caffienated teeny boppers.
Ahhhhh…. Sweet success!

zara suit

November 13th, 2012 | Diana

I know you guys have all heard, ad nauseum, about how obsessed I am with Zara… Most notably due to the fact you can get beautifully designed European style clothes for inconceivably low prices. But I have to say, this season they’ve really outdone themselves. So keep an eye out on my blog for a post featuring some examples of their current, ultra-chic collection.

One of my all-time favorite Zara (wholesale clothing prices for consumers) purchases was this velvet suit… I purchased it at their glorious flagship store in NYC when I was last there. And I have to say, it adds the perfect touch of feminine and masculine to any outfit, and truly looks like a few thousand dollars, doesn’t it?
Everyone should have at least one suit in their wardrobe, and this is definitely the one for me.

Packing for Paris Fashion Week

September 21st, 2012 | Diana

As I am so over New York Fashion Week. _ And thanks to MODA OPERANDI, already got my Marc Jacobs Mickey Cropped top and pleated skirt. Still want this shirt, coat, “dress” and jacket. Oh help me please?! I also got these dope Alexander Wang gladiator sandal boots, remember?! I can consider myself content, for now. _ I find myself watching as many runway shows life streams as I can. London Fashion Week had several highlights for me that won’t be forgotten. Milan Fashion Week started yesterday, just as I anticipated Prada rocked my world again. Is impressive how every season, every runway show, every garment; Prada always make me feel like I am teenager again, going on a first date with the boy I have liked for years.
Well, I conclude it is a must to talk in details about all that went down in London and what’s happening now in Milan. And I will, as soon as a get packing for Paris out of the way.
Different than packing for business/vacation trip; the matter here is over a week of outfits for the best fashion shows, the best parties, the best restaurants, and a the common possibility of weather changes by the hour. So a smart packing list for all seasons of the year, without over packing is challenging. But do take in consideration I will be shopping in Paris.
This is what I am bringing with me, plus my second skin.

1.Givenchy earring  2.Thakoon Addiction top/dress  3.Valentino bag  4.Givenchy boots  5.Givenchy earring  6.Shourouk necklace    7. 3.1 Phillip Lim top  8. New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 … my notes…

September 10th, 2012 | Diana

Here is a quick review of the last 5 days of shows. NOTE, this is only what stud out for me so far. So let’s start by the end; Alexander Wang’s glow in the dark finale that is! Thanks to BRYAN BOY for always having his camera on capturing all great moments. WATCH THIS! Wang himself described, Tron-like.

Has Wang inspired you to wear his deconstructed beauties? Well, he had me on my feet, and them on my knees!!! In my element, the disconnected puzzle like clothes presented, got all a modern gal wants. Did I mention super sexy? I didn’t?
Wowww, super sexy!  The fish line thread gives the feeling of the clothes flowing on the body. Can’t wear underwear wish some of this looks.
Wang’s leather pieces are stunning. The texture and prints adds a lot sophistication. And the shoes??? AMAZING!!! I wanted it all, all of it.

Now, 2nd note. The Gladiators shoes, in several different variations, are back!
Altuzzara gladiator heels. I am guessing Gianvito Rossi is behind this beauty too.

This one is Alexander Wang. Can we call it a gladiator pumps?

And this one is Skaist-Taylor. The Juicy Couture Duo’s new line.

…and last, a surprise that rocked my world. Jason Wu got the note; the harness note, remember?! Plus, he threw some leather and lace together. Equals, immaculate.

“It must be the season of the sneakers”

August 23rd, 2012 | Diana

First came Tommy Tom, with his state of art streetstyle pictures, snapping some colorful, some customized Nike sneakers; during numerous Fashion Weeks  and 2011 along this statement _ “After years of towering around in sky-high heels, it was only a matter of time before fashion insiders came back down to earth and slipped into something more comfortable. Embraced by tastemaker Phoebe Philo as she makes her Celine bows and also seen in countless editorials, the sneaker has become the shoe of choice.”

Meanwhile, the very famous hidden heels Bekket Sneakers by Isabel Marant, which was introduced back early 2010 [HOLY COW! A two years trend?!_ (thanks to Anastasia I am changing my OMFG to holy cow!!!)], and still “impossible” to get it, the Bekket sneakers is on everyone’s feet. No joke!!!

But it wasn’t until last Haute Couture week, when Vika Gazinskaya’s Nike and dirndl skirt took over and named the begging of a new trend era. Soon came all the Model off duty looks from Stockholm Streetstyle during Paris Haute Couture and Copenhagen Fashion Weeks. Followed by outfit posts from bloggers and trend followers. I, like most of people mentioned, have got my tired and overworked feet into this trend. Casual hangover Fridays, became a Monday through Sunday thing for a flat addict like myself. Rest my lovely beat up Lanvins, take a break slippers, it’s sneakers time.

White and Wild

July 18th, 2012 | Diana

It wouldn’t be summer without at least one “white party” to attend. This year, instead of Ibiza, or an exotic European happening island _ Beverly Hills was the destination. The event? A 40 years old birthday bash to get P Diddy, Sean Combs (or whatever his name might be these days, serious commitment issues dude!) anyway, soooo jealous. There was something about an absolutely gorgeous, well decorated house; combined the most good looking people wearing all white (lots of diamonds too!) and drunk out of their minds that would have made any party expert to be delighted by the way the night unveiled. Knowing what kind of clan I was about to mix myself in, I made sure to chose the appropriate white party dress. Sexy for my husbands eyes and still very up my league. Mixing the Givenchy dress with the harness came out to a huge success, (I know Christian Grey would’ve like it,) and kept my style identity in check. As I needed no more, the thin black strap Alexander Wang sandals, and a simple, black as well, Givenchy clutch was enough. Next time, without shame, I will definitely add spanx to my ensemble. Only if you had seen how big my stomach was after all the champagne and tequila I had that night!
